This past week a local Petersburg IL resident decided for himself that fracking was ok as long as it did not occur on his personal property.
For those of us who don't know, "Fracking" is a horizontal drilling process used to extract natural gas. It is known to be associated with harmful air emissions, water contamination, and other serious issues. It can cause land to be unfit for growing crops and human habitation.
When interviewed by In The Know resident of 126 S Harpam St, DrewP., stated that he really didn't know what fracking was, or what the process entailed, or where it actually occurred, but he knew that he did not want it in his back yard. When shown a picture of a fracking well by In The Know, DrewP. concluded that "one of those big tower thingies" would definitely not work on his property. He argued that despite his lack of knowledge he was actually all for fracking. He concluded by stating: "As long as they're not fracking in my yard!" Upon ending the phrase a slimy grin curled across his face, however, he would not let us in on the joke and refused further questioning.
The resident clearly doesn't understand the implications of fracking on the environment, water supply, and possibly his personal health.
However, if you're interested in learning more this link http://www.dangersoffracking.com/ takes you to a simple explanation of the process equipped with pictures and easy instructions.

Local Fiancé Eats Both Chili and Dogs but Refuses to Eat Chilidogs.
A recent discovery was made this past weekend in the Lyons/Lees household on the corner of Prospect and State Streets. Resident Danielle Lees discovered that her fiancĂ© Ben Lyons will eat both chili in a bowl and hot dogs on a bun but the strangely picky twenty-two year old refuses the idea of chilidogs. “Where did this hatred of chilidogs come from” Lees wanted to know, “I’ve never seen such blatant refusal from another adult.” Lees was reminiscing about trying to persuade and then coerce the man into tasting the chilidog, to no avail. She questioned Lyons, “Is it trashy??” in reference to the chilidogs origins. Although Lyons stated that there is nothing wrong with the chilidog itself, that it is only a personal preference not to consume the greasy cylindrical meat topped with, in fact, more meat, Lees can’t help but wonder if there is something to the existence of the chilidog that she simply does not understand. Is there some kind of ‘gross factor’ that comes into play when the two foods are combined? Maybe we’ll never know.
If you have any information on the “Blight of the Chilidog” please write the editor.
